The Gallery Children’s Biennale 2025 Is Back - Bigger, Brighter, and Baby-Friendly!

Updated:
May 24, 2025

Get ready to be inspired by a world of creativity as the Gallery Children’s Biennale makes its highly-anticipated return at National Gallery Singapore on 31 May 2025!

The Gallery Children’s Biennale finally returns from 31 May 2025 to 29 March 2026 with the new inspiring theme “Tomorrow We’ll Be…,” which focuses on four core values: Joy, Kindness, Dream, and Love.

During this time, the Gallery will be transformed into a lively space full of play, imagination, and discovery, featuring eight exciting interactive artworks by artists from Singapore and around Asia.

For the very first time, all artworks at this Biennale include baby-friendly experiences, designed to gently engage your little one’s senses in a safe and welcoming space.

Art Installations

The Gallery Children’s Biennale features eight captivating artworks:

  1. Colourful Play by Fern Wong
  2. Dance Dance Chromatics by Wyn-Lyn Tan
  3. Kindness Garden by Hiromi Tango
  4. Lessons in Being Kind by Souliya Phoumivong
  5. I WE THEM by Vicente Delgado
  6. Fantasy by Co2_karbondioksida
  7. Imaginary Peach Garden by YeSeung Lee
  8. Home Is Where The Heart is - inspired by Mohamed Salehuddin

I WE THEM by Vicente Delgado

One of our favourite installations at the Biennale, I WE THEM supports children’s sensory and emotional development with bold colors, soft textures, and playful shapes.

A dedicated area with plush "flower beds" and gentle sculptures is designed for babies and toddlers to freely explore.

Through art and open-ended play, the installation celebrates love, empathy, and the simple joy of being together.

Kindness Garden by Hiromi Tango

Children are invited to experience an empathy garden to explore through touch, sight, hearing, and smell.

Giant blooming flowers and "sound flowers" feature kind words in Braille.

Through this meaningful piece, the artist hopes to help children develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of the diverse communities around us.

Fantasy by Co2_karbondioksida

Kids will love exploring and playing in this installation which uses 130 kg of upcycled children’s clothing and nearly 400 donated toys.

Soft cubes on a padded floor, made from donated garments, create a safe, and welcoming interactive space for babies and young children.

Through this artwork, children are gently encouraged to think about issues like waste and overconsumption, while also inspiring dreams of a greener, more sustainable future.

We enjoyed it for sure and the kids kept asking to come back to this installation!

Imaginary Peach Garden by YeSeung Lee

Inspired by collectible Tazo puzzle cards and animal characters from Korean and Southeast Asian folktales, this playful installation invites children to create their own fantastical creatures using soft foam puzzles and projected digital formations.

Giant inflatable forms that expand and deflate like living beings add a fun surprise, bringing humor, wonder, and bursts of energy into the space.

Dance Dance Chromatics by Wyn-Lyn Tan

Dance Dance Chromatics is a multi-sensory artwork featuring an AI-generated digital landscape.

Visitors are invited to dance and interact with motion sensors and floor pads, triggering unique changes in the colors and movements on the "living" video wall, displaying the paintings.

Through this movement-based art, children can experience joy and create meaningful connections.

Lessons in Being Kind by Souliya Phoumivong

This artwork is a stop-motion story exploring identity, self-acceptance, and kindness.

This installation also offers families the chance to create their own stop-motion videos and try a fun balancing chair that encourages teamwork.

Colourful Play by Fern Wong

This interactive installation celebrates growing creativity through vibrant colors, engaging textures, and intricate patterns inspired by the artist’s delicate paper-cut designs.

Children can contribute to the evolving artwork by completing designs with colorful magnetic shapes, sparking hands-on exploration and imaginative play. Meanwhile, babies and toddlers can enjoy sensory-rich experiences with a maze wall, sound makers, textured panels, and mirrors, supporting their early development.

Together, these playful and meaningful activities bring Fern’s artistic vision to life in a dynamic, ever-changing space.

Home Is Where The Heart Is inspired by Mohamed Salehuddin

Step into a playful mural brought to life with delightful interactive elements. Children can ring colorful doorbells, open miniature doors to discover neighbors, and listen to cheerful greetings from a friendly ice cream cart vendor, encouraging exploration of belonging, kindness, and what it means to feel truly at home in a community.
